Welcome Back to The Boss Board
#1
From: http://www.thebossboard.com/2017/04/welc...oss-board/

Quote:The Relaunch

It has been over nine years since the launching of The Boss Board and since that time our website has evolved in many ways. Originally, this website was launched as a stand alone forum that would continue the legacy of KXNG CROOKED’s Dynasty Online Community. Due to the popular response among visitors, the forum was expanded and The Boss Board was converted into a fully functional fan driven website. Since that time, we have done our very best to provide readers with the latest news and music updates regarding KXNG CROOKED and the Circle of Bosses movement.

Now, the journey continues as The Boss Board has relaunched with a fresh and brand new appearance for our readers. Believe me when I tell you, this was no easy decision, but it was long overdue. While it is painful to retire the original Boss Board, it is important to realize that our new platform will offer our visitors a more streamlined experience that offers several exciting features.

So, what is changing?

Of course with our new look and functionality, there are some other changes on the horizon. Over the next year, we plan to expand upon the kind of content that is posted to The Boss Board. This may include additional music acts outside of the Circle of Bosses movement or even additional forms of entertainment such as gaming or technology. Our goal is to not limit ourselves going forward and hope that our readers will look to The Boss Board as one of their primary stops for news updates.

With our new platform, The Boss Board will now support many new features and abilities that were not available in the past. The most important of these is that our website is now fully compatible with mobile devices. This was probably our most requested feature and we can promise readers that the experience has been greatly enhanced!

While we will not cover every change that has been implemented or planned, it is important to remember that this new website is constantly evolving. Please feel free to use our contact form to let us know what we got right and what we could improve upon.

Ok, so what is not changing?

As mentioned above, The Boss Board will start to expand upon the content that is posted over the next year. However, we can assure our long time supporters that our primary point of focus will always be KXNG CROOKED and the Circle of Bosses movement. The Boss Board has been a staple in the COB community for nearly a decade and we have no plans of bowing out at this time.

The Boss Board’s official fan forum will retain it’s current appearance for the immediate future. We believe it is important to keep a “familiar” element for our visitors during this time of transition. However, a full forum relaunch is already being planned and will be occurring in the near future.

Please also note that we would have never made the decision to relaunch The Boss Board if it was not possible to include all of our original content. That is why we painstakingly imported every single one of our previous news articles as well as fan favorite content such as the discography archives and media galleries. In the event that we missed anything, please let us know and we will be sure to include it!

Thank You

Once again, The Boss Board would like to send our sincerest thanks to all of those who have supported our vision over the last nine years. We could not have kept this movement alive without the strongest and most dedicated fan community around. Of course, we’d also like to give our thanks to KXNG CROOKED and all of our friends at Treacherous Records who have also shown support for this website. We are looking forward to the future and will continue to represent the Circle of Bosses brand to the best of our abilities!

Now that is something else  8) When you were talking about a complete website overhaul, EFFeX, I thought hardly anything would change, but I was wrong. It's quite different to what it was and it might take some getting used to, but I like the new outlook of the website. Hopefully that would attract plenty of new visitors because (my own impression) the forum was dying out over the last year or two with barely anyone posting or discussing new material.

However, I reckon the site is now moving into a more commercial rather than fanbase community direction? I'd really like for this forum to become the one-stop place for us to find out about the numerous features Crooked is doing on known and unknown artists' projects because right now the only other alternative is to painstakingly roam every possible social media and online retailer to collect info about possible features we might have missed out on.

Damn that front page is slick, much needed change for sure

I'll echo superspider and say that I would like for this to be the one place you need to come to for all your COB news. I'm sure by not doing what they've said and painstakingly go through all their twitter feeds I've missed out on lots of music and information about upcoming projects. Though I suppose to be fair we all could take some blame on that, if we all posted when we did find something there would be more info on the forums. But it certainly would be nice in an ideal world to not have to search out the information ourselves and have just this one place to come to for all our COB updates.

The only other, I guess suggestion I have, is that when you branch out into more widespread news(which is a great idea) you have it clearly separated on the main page, in two distinct sections so that the COB updates don't get lost in the shuffle(I'm sure that's obvious and something you were going to do anyway but I figure while I'm writing this up I may as well put it out there).

Anyway thanks again for the site, it's hard to say for certain but without this site I don't know that I would have been able to keep up with Crooked or track down all of HSG's projects once I saw the light and realized the dope music I was missing out on and very easily could have fallen off before some of my favourite songs of all time came out. So thanks for that and the dope new site, I look forward to what the future brings for the boss boards

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, I agree the change to the front page is pretty drastic and honestly it was really hard for me to let go of the original design. You need to understand that I spend HOURS putting it together and the entire site was hand coded in Notepad! It really meant a lot to me.

However, I understood that in order to keep this movement alive it was time to change things up before they got too stable. I've actually been working on this for some time behind the scenes. In fact, all news articles from 2017 were posted specifically to the new website and then just copied over to the old one. I had always set April 1st as the cut off date no matter whether the site was ready to go or not. I was too eager to get feedback! Please note that now that the site is live, this will give me a lot of time to fine tune things, work on new features and polish it up. It's STILL a work in progress, but I wanted to give everyone a chance to start using it.

If you ever seen the admin area from the old Boss Board you'd understand why it was such a pain to update and post articles. That was my main motivation for the upgrade, it was just getting too hard to maintain. This should allow me to get news to you guys faster and with less hurdles.

Keep in mind that the transition to posting additional content (outside of COB) is further down the line. I'm thinking that this may not start until 3rd Quarter 2017. I also agree that there needs to be a clear separation between COB content and other content. I have already mapped out how this is going to work and I am positive that everyone will like the outcome. I just think that it will be a way to attract additional users and keep the website moving forwards.

I have read a lot of comments on The Boss Board and other forums over the past year about how frustrating it is to find COB news online. Believe me, I'm with you guys 100%. I think The Boss Board can fill that gap, but it's still going to be a group effort. Please continue to post to the forums and share your findings. I want this to be a community and hopefully we can respark some interest with a fresh look. By the way, the forum IS getting a face lift. This probably within the next couple of months. I want it to compliment the front page. I have already started preliminary work on this and hopefully you guys like the outcome.

Anyway, please continue to provide feedback. Anyone that has been around since the beginnings of The Boss Board knows that it greatly evolved over time. This site will as well and has a healthy road map ahead. I'm looking forward to the upcoming year.

I will be extremely busy over the next 30 or so days, but after that I'll find the time to post a massive list of names of tracks (no links) Crooked has appeared on which are missing from the site. Fans should then be able to go ahead and look for the actual releases and cop whatever they deem worth it.

I wouldn't mind helping out with covering the gaming industry, after all, I'm running an extremely small Let's Play channel right now. Hopefully, by the time the site is ready for that kind of news coverage I'll have found a new job so I can buy new games with the frequency that I used to, it's been kind of hard though, since I'm more than a bit anti-social irl.

We can certainly discuss that when the time is right!
